March Theme: Flow & Surrender

Exploring Surrender & Ease

(Inspired by Ishvara Pranidhana — a Niyama, or personal practice, from the Eight Limbs of Yoga)

March is a time of transition. The days slowly begin to shift, and there’s a sense of softening in the air. This month, our classes are inspired by the water element — steady, adaptable, and flowing.

Water doesn’t rush or force its way forward. It moves around obstacles. It adjusts. It trusts its path.

In yoga, there is a principle called Ishvara Pranidhana, which means surrender. In simple terms, it’s the practice of doing your best — and then letting go of the need to control the outcome.

As yoga teacher T.K.V. Desikachar said:

“Surrender is not giving up the fruits of our action, but giving up our attachment to them.”

  • Letting go of the idea of doing the pose “perfectly”

  • Resting when you need to

  • Moving at your own pace

  • Trusting that your body knows what it needs

In our Gentle classes, you’ll experience slow, breath-led movement and plenty of space to pause.

In Yin, we’ll hold simple shapes for a little longer, allowing the body to gradually soften without strain.

You might hear reminders like, “There’s nothing to achieve here,” “Let the shape support you,” or “Less can be enough.” There’s no need to get it perfect or master anything—just give yourself space to move, breathe, and notice how your body feels. This month is about learning to move like water: gently, steadily, and with kindness toward yourself.
